Andrea Roggon was born in Überlingen am Bodensee in 1981. After various journeys, she gained her initial practical experiences in the field of film, including at SWR and Schwenk Film.

From 2003 to 2010, she studied directing in the Documentary Film program at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. As part of a Baden-Württemberg scholarship, she completed a year of study at the international film school Escuela Internacional de Cine y TV in Cuba in 2006.

Since her studies, Andrea Roggon has worked as an independent director and producer, with her main focus being on artistic documentary filmmaking. In addition to several short and medium-length films, she directed three feature-length films: "Enrique y Judita" and "Soy libre – I am free," and "Mülheim Texas – Helge Schneider here and there," which were invited to and acclaimed at renowned festivals worldwide. "Mülheim Texas – Helge Schneider here and there" was released in cinemas in Germany and Austria in 2015.

From 2008 to 2011, she developed her own film series with two directors: "Freie Geschichten," and toured with a mobile cinema in schools, town halls, and prisons.

She currently continues this work as the curator of the "Film Kunst Fest" at the Kunstverein Wagenhalle.

Since October 2022, she has been teaching as a permanent lecturer in the Documentary Film program at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.

In 2011, Andrea Roggon founded AMA FILM GmbH, which she now leads as managing partner along with Ulla Lehmann. In addition to her projects as a director, she passionately dedicates herself as a producer to the stories of other directors. The latest films released by AMA FILM include "Das innere Leuchten" by Stefan Sick and "Wood and Water" by Jonas Bak, both presented at the Berlinale, as well as "Midwives" by Snow Hnin Ei Hlaing, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for the German Documentary Film Award and the Independent Spirit Award (U.S.). AMA FILM self-distributed "Das innere Leuchten": on the occasion of World Alzheimer's Day 2019, the film was shown in over 65 cinemas throughout Germany.
