Modern   Loneliness

SYNOPSIS

Since the appointment of a Minister of Loneliness in the UK in 2018, it has become official that loneliness constitutes a serious issue within our Western society. Through my documentary film, I aim to capture the sensation of loneliness and make it palpable for the viewer. The focus of the film will be on individuals who are not immediately associated with this topic: those aged 20 to 50, individuals who are in the midst of life and are professionally successful.

In order to allow the protagonists to express themselves freely, voices will not be distinctly matched to the faces of the people on screen. This deliberate design, nevertheless, creates a strong thematic connection that emotionally renders both the state of "negative" and "positive" loneliness perceivable for the viewer.
